Review of Data Visualization with Tableau Specialization on Coursera

From June to August 2022, I completed Data Visualization with Tableau Specialization by UC Davis on Coursera for about 10 weeks.

Content includes:

  • The various features of Tableau
  • Data quality assessment and exploratory analysis
  • Visualize data for stakeholders, intended audience
  • Combine data to present story and insights, drive business actions

The visual design style of this specialization is concise and conveys the message clearly and directly. Beauty is not its purpose.

The biggest difference from other Tableau courses is that this specialization teaches design principles, communication with stakeholders, and storytelling skills. In my opinion, these are critical to a good analyst.

Also, along the way, I’ve become familiar with tools and communities like tableau public and data.world that I can leverage to go further.
