Analyze the Hurun China Rich List to see changes after the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Wealth Analysis
- Two years after the epidemic, in 2021, the number of China’s richest people increased by 60%, and their total assets increased by 91%.
- The proportion of the super-rich rose.
- The top 10% occupied 53% of the wealth on the rich list in 2021.
Company Analysis
Sorted by the total wealth of companies on the list, the number one in 2021 is CATL, reaching as high as around $83 billion US dollar. It’s followed by Tencent, Alibaba, and NongfuSpring.
Compared with 2019, the Real Estate groups like Country Garden, Evergrande, Longfor, disappeared in the top ten, replaced by industrial groups such as Haitian (seasoning), Midea (home appliances), and Great Wall (automobiles).
It is a little surprising but reasonable that Alibaba is the company with the largest number of employees on the list in both year.
Analysing from the city, the Yangtze River Delta > Pearl River Delta > Beijing. The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region has not a strong and collaborative city cluster like the other two regions, and only Beijing has thriving in North China.
Rich’s Living Province vs Birth Place Province
Among top provinces where they live, most of the rich in Zhejiang and Jiangsu are locals, while over 75% of the rich in Beijing and Shanghai are immigrants from other provinces.
